Wimberley is a very small, rural town but AFTH is very proud of the number of students we have been able to reach throughout our 12 years as an non profit. We have held over 1,000 workshops and have worked with over 2,000 students through our after school workshops, field trips, assemblies and student art exhibits. As more and more families move to Wimberley, AFTH has an obligation to provide cultural arts education to our town’s growing population. AFTH has never charged students tuition or fees to participate in our programs. We rely solely on donations to sustain our efforts. We continue our tradition of not charging for our services so that all children and teenagers, regardless of their family’s circumstances, can participate. We do not receive tax funding from the school district
We are also the fortunate recipients of the University of Texas Performing Arts Outreach Program, enabling us to provide many of our older students with complimentary tickets and transportation to attend major cultural art events. Additionally, we have a similar relationship with The College of Fine Arts & Communication at Texas State University.
A strong philosophy of AFTH is that it is beneficial for young people to become involved with their community. We regularly encourage and facilitate our students to contribute their creative talents and artwork to community organizations. AFTH has carefully and successfully developed community partnerships and resources.
