What We Do

Our after-school workshops are held at various campuses on different days of the week. Student enrollment consistently fills quickly. Our content primarily focuses on the visual arts but also includes music, song-writing, poetry, prose, dance and drama. Workshops for younger students typically have a 1 adult to 6 student ratio. In addition to our workshops, hundreds of children have participated in AFTH special events, cultural art assemblies, student art exhibits and field trips.

We are also the fortunate recipients of the University of Texas Performing Arts Outreach Program, enabling us to provide older students with complimentary tickets and transportation to attend major cultural art events.

Dear Parents,

We welcome 2nd – 8th grade students in public, private and home schools to participate in AFTH after school workshops on the Danforth Jr. High and Jacob’s Well Elementary campuses. Each class lasts 1½ hours for a period of 8 weeks per semester. After-school workshops begin at the end of the school day and last until 4:45pm.

We enroll students on a first come-first serve basis. Our after-school art workshops fill very quickly, so we encourage you to submit an application as soon as possible. You may download an application from this website and return it to Arts From The Heart at the address listed below. Please complete both pages and be sure to sign. We cannot accept incomplete applications. We will contact you by phone to confirm your child’s enrollment or by letter if your child has been placed on our waiting list.

In addition to after-school workshops, Arts From The Heart (AFTH) offers in-school workshops for 1st graders attending Scudder Elementary. Art workshops for approximately 140 first graders will be held during school hours at various times during the school year. Applications are not necessary, as all 1st graders will be included in these in-school workshops.
